Boat Fire Extinguished near L.A. Gate

Pacific Southwest Coast Guard NewsSAN PEDRO, Calif. – The Coast Guard, Baywatch Cabrillo, Long Beach Fire Department, and Los Angeles City Fire Department responded to a small boat fire about four miles from L.A. Gate at about 9 a.m., Oct. 12, 2012.

A 32-foot recreational boat carrying two people and a dog were onboard at the time of the fire. The small fire was contained and extinguished quickly after responders arrived. The passengers were transferred onto a Coast Guard 45-foot Response Boat from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles-Long Beach and en route to a fire station in Cabrillo, Calif., for further evaluation. One man onboard the boat suffered minor burns on one of his hands.

The boat is currently being towed back to Huntington Harbor.
