Big Island Coast Guard Crew Enroute to Aid Sick Man

HONOLULU – A Coast Guard patrol boat rescue crew are en route to assist a 30-year-old man suffering from stomach pains 300 miles north of Oahu.

The crew of the Coast Guard cutter Kiska, a 110-foot patrol boat stationed in Hilo, was diverted from routine operations Saturday afternoon to assist the sick crewmember aboard the 79-foot fishing vessel Golden Eagle.

Coast Guard command center operators received the call for assistance at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
