AmericasRelief Team recognizes Coast Guard for Haiti relief operations

MIAMI – AmericasRelief Team, a charitable, non-profit, non-governmental organization, recognized the Coast Guard and other partner agencies at their Regional Crises Relief annual luncheon aboard the docked Carnival Imagination Friday.

Former Gov. Jeb Bush presented an award to Seventh District Chief of Response Capt. Peter Brown and Seventh Coast Guard District Governmental Affairs Officer Eric Driggs for the Coast Guard’s outstanding support efforts during the earthquake relief operations in Haiti.

The hard work and effort that the AmericasRelief Team puts forth came to fruition after the recent disaster that affected Haiti when just one day after the deadly earthquake, AmericasRelief mobilized and activated an Emergency Operations Center.

This year’s event was held to recognize those who have shown excellent leadership and have been exceptional facilitators in providing relief in the recent response to the earthquake in Haiti and ongoing efforts there.

“It was an honor to be invited to this year’s luncheon event,” said Driggs. “It was a proud moment for both Capt. Brown and I to receive an award on behalf of the Coast Guard and the crews that performed exceptionally during the earthquake in Haiti.”
