BEAVER ISLAND, Mich. – U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City medically evacuated a 60-year-old male with a broken leg from Beaver Island at approximately 7 p.m. Saturday.
“The paramedics had him ready when we got there”, said Lt. Cmdr. Joseph Klatt, the pilot of the HH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter. “He was wasn’t in major amounts of pain, but still needed to be taken to the hospital.”
A paramedic from Beaver Island Emergency Medical Services accompanied the flight crew to treat the man.
The crew transferred the Beaver Island resident safely to shore at Air Station Traverse City, where awaiting EMS transported him to Munson Hospital.
