Air Station to Host Koru Care Children

LOS ANGELES – Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles will host 26 children with special needs from New Zealand for a tour at 8 a.m., on Tuesday.

Koru Care, which is the equivalent of Make a Wish Foundation in the States, makes the trip from New Zealand to Southern California every year. This is the 13th year the Coast Guard and Baywatch have teamed up to help Koru Care hold true to their mission to bring “a little bit of joy into the lives of children with terminal illness or permanent disabilities.”

The children will spend about an hour at the air station where they will be given a tour and shown the equipment the air crews use and wear. After that, the group will travel to Marina Del Rey Baywatch to get underway with the lifeguards and a demonstration from the air by the rescue heilicopters and rescue boats.
