Air Station New Orleans medevacs man from tanker

NEW ORLEANS —The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a man from a tanker approximately 89 miles southeast of New Orleans in the Gulf of Mexico, Sunday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Command Center New Orleans, received a call at approximately 3:20 p.m., from a crewmember aboard the tanker British Kestrel reporting that a 24-year-old male required a medevac.

Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans launched an MH-65C Dolphin helicopter and crew and transported the man to the Naval Air Station Belle Chasse, La., where he was met by awaiting EMS. He was transported to West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, La.

His condition is unknown.
