Air Station Houston Rescues Family of Four

HOUSTON – A Coast Guard rescue crew from Air Station Houston rescued a family of four from a sinking vessel in East Bay Tuesday at 10 p.m.

Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston received a call from the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 8:50 p.m. of a distress call involving a 15-foot pleasure craft caught in rough weather and taking on water.

Coast Guard Station Galveston launched a 25-foot response boat – small and crew, and Coast Guard Air Station Houston launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter and crew at 9:30 p.m. Coast Guard responders located the vessel approximately 10 minutes later.

The helicopter crew hoisted the survivors and transported them to Coast Guard Air Station Houston where they were met by awaiting emergency management services, treated on scene and released.

The condition of the family is currently unknown.
