Air Station Cape Cod to Hold Memorial Service for Crew of CG1432

BOURNE, Mass.- The Coast Guard will hold a memorial service to honor the crew of Coast Guard helicopter CG1432 at Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod in Bourne, Mass., Feb. 18, 2010.

The helicopter crashed on Feb 18, 1979, while attempting to rescue a member of a Japanese fishing vessel. Lt. Cdr. James Stiles, Canadian Forces, Coast Guard Capt. G. Richard Burge, and Coast Guard Petty Officer’s 2nd Class John Tait and Bruce Kaehler all perished in the mishap. Coast Guard Petty Officer 2nd Class Mark Torr was the lone survivor.
