Agencies to conduct exercise aboard Washington State Ferry Chimacum

SEATTLE – Several federal, state and local agencies will be conducting exercises on the Washington State Ferry Chimacum Tuesday morning outside of Elliott Bay.

Increased levels of activity will be noticed during these hours. Boaters and members of the public on land may see or hear training activity, including the use of blank ammunition.

Although blank ammunition looks and sounds like real gunfire, there are no bullets.

Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound, Customs and Border Protection, Washington State Ferry, Washington State Patrol, King County Sheriff’s Office and Everett Police Department will be participating.

This exercise will allow all personnel involved to work together and test their ability to respond to an incident in a maritime environment.

If anyone is unsure if a situation is unrelated to the Coast Guard exercise, they should immediately report it to the Coast Guard or local law enforcement agency.
