A Short Thank You

November 18, 2006 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Coast Guard has removed a man found on a barge this morning whose sailing vessel collided with a tug and barge today at about 5a.m…. Thus began the first story published here at Coast Guard News, three years ago today.

In the time relatively short time since then, Coast Guard News has published 8,756 stories an 1,764 comments and fought off 46,298 SPAM comments. We’ve also grown from zero readers to an average of 2500 per day, along with another 800 FeedReader subscribers.

I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to all of you who take the time to read Coast Guard News. My goal when starting it was to pull together the news of what the Coast Guard was doing into one location so that it was readily available. I hope I have achieved that goal. I look forward to continuing to providing this service for a long time.

Have a great Coast Guard Day and as my buddy Phil used to say, “let’s be careful out there.”
