66-year-old man medevaced by Coast Guard near Crystal River, Fla.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 66-year-old man was medevaced by the Coast Guard from a 42-foot commercial vessel approximately 27 miles west southwest of Crystal River Thursday.

A crewmember aboard the Miss Shannon II contacted Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg watchstanders at 11:29 a.m., via VHF-FM channel 16 radio reporting the man was experiencing heart attack symptoms and was in need of medical assistance.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater arrived on scene, hoisted the man and transported him to Tampa General in Tampa.
