Coast Guard searching for missing kayaker on Lake Champlain, Vermont, asking for help from public

The Coast Guard is asking for assistance from the public in the search for Sean Hawley who went missing on Lake Champlain, Vt., Saturday. Sean Hawley, 25, 6'2 and 180 pounds was last seen at 11 p.m. Saturday paddling a black, inflatable kayak in the direction of Plattsburg, N.Y., near Colchester Point, Vt.

The Coast Guard is asking for assistance from the public in the search for a kayaker who went missing on Lake Champlain, Vt., Saturday.

BOSTON — The Coast Guard is asking for assistance from the public in the search for a kayaker who went missing on Lake Champlain, Vermont Saturday.

Sean Hawley, 25, 6’2 and 180 pounds was last seen at 11:00 p.m. Saturday paddling a black, inflatable kayak in the direction of Plattsburg, New York near Colchester Point, Vermont.

Colchester Police notified Coast Guard Station Burlington at 6:39 p.m. Sunday.  Sector Northern New England in Portland, Maine issued a notice to mariners and immediately started the search.

The following are involved in the search:

*Coast Gaurd HC-144a Ocean Sentry Aircraft from Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts

*Coast Guard 25-foot Response-boat Small from Station Burlington, Vermont

*New York State Poiice Helicopter

*Plattsburg Police Department surface boat

*Clinton County Police Department
