CHARLESTON, S.C. – Coast Guard boat and helicopters crews are searching 13 miles southeast of Folly Beach, South Carolina, for an 18-year-old who was diving with his father and didn’t resurface when scheduled Saturday.
The pair started diving from their 22-foot Carolina skiff between 2 and 2:15 p.m. for a 30-minute dive with a 60-foot maximum depth. The father surfaced when planned but the son did not.
Currently searching are a crew aboard a 45-foot Response Boat – Medium from Coast Guard Station Charleston and a crew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Facility Charleston.
Good Samaritans who were diving nearby are also assisting with the search.
