43-year-old man medically evacuated from cargo ship south of Marathon, Fla.

MIAMI — A man aboard the freighter vessel CS Calvina was medically evacuated Wednesday night 25 nautical miles south of Marathon, Florida.

At 6 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Key West received a report of a 43-year-old man who required urgent medical care. After consulting with the flight surgeon, an aircrew with Coast Guard Air Station Miami launched.

The aircrew arrived on scene, hoisted the man from the 620-foot vessel and transported him to Fisherman’s Hospital in Marathon.
