Despite an immediate response by Coast Guard units to provide first aid aid and quickly transport PS3 Gill to a nearby medical center, PS3 Gill succumbed to his injuries.
The PS3 Ronald A. Gill Jr. Memorial Scholarship Foundation was established to ensure his death was not in vain and that his legacy continues. The foundation is a section 501(c)(3) non-profit charity organization and 100% of all proceeds benefit scholarship recipients in Rhode Island.
