Frosty Fuel personnel reported a diesel spill from a transfer line, Tuesday. The source of the discharge was secured following the report of the incident. The maximum potential of the spill is approximately 1,470 gallons.
Frosty Fuel conducted an assessment and reported that the spilled diesel has impacted approximately 300 feet of shoreline. No injuries have been reported, and no affected wildlife has been observed since the spill was discovered.
Frosty Fuel has contracted the Alaska Chadux Corporation to assist in containing and cleaning up the fuel. The Coast Guard and ADEC will continue monitoring clean-up operations and any further environmental impacts.
“The Unified Command is working together to ensure that everything possible is done to alleviate the situation,” said Lt. Tod Bagetis, Coast Guard Sector Anchorage incident management division chief. “Our top priorities are to protect public health, ensure the safety of responders and limit environmental impacts as we contain and clean-up the spill as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
