Two Ships Passing in the Afternoon

SEATTLE - The Coast Guard Cutter Polar Sea passes the Coast Guard Cutter Healy in Puget Sound Tuesday.  The Polar Sea returned from a four-month Arctic deployment in support of Operation Deep Freeze as the Healy departed to conduct science missions as part of Operation Arctic Summer West.  This year's Deep Freeze mission led to the successful replenishment of the McMurdo Station, Antarctica's largest scientific and support community, by breaking through 23 nautical miles of Antarctic ice.
