Two people injured after boat hits seawall at Coast Guard Base Miami Beach

MIAMI — Two boaters were seriously injured when a recreational boat hit the seawall at Coast Guard Base Miami Beach, Florida, Friday morning.

Coast Guard crews from Base Miami Beach and Coast Guard Station Miami Beach responded, along with Miami Beach Fire Rescue crews, when the incident happened on the east side of the Coast Guard base at approximately 10 a.m. Friday. The two unidentified boaters, one male and one female, were transported by Miami Beach Fire Rescue to the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

The female is reported to be in critical condition, the male is in stable condition.

“Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of these two boaters”, said Capt. Benjamin Davis commanding officer Base Miami Beach. “Coast Guard responders from the base were on scene almost immediately, and began providing first aid on both victims before they were transported to the hospital”

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is leading the investigation.
