Coast Guard crews suspend search for swimmer near Spring Lake, N.J.

SPRING LAKE, N.J. - The Coast Guard suspended its search Monday for a missing swimmer near Spring Lake Beach here.

The Coast Guard received a call at 5:06 p.m. Sunday reporting two 40-year-old swimmers were caught in a rip tide.

One swimmer was recovered by members of the Spring Lake Beach Patrol unconscious and transferred to emergency medical personnel who took him to the hospital. The man was later pronounced deceased.

Two rescue boat crews from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet, N.J., a rescue helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., a C-130 airplane crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., crewmembers aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Finback homeported in Cape May, N.J., members of the Spring Lake Police Department and Beach Patrol and members of the New Jersey State Police searched 765 square miles for the missing swimmer.

The Coast Guard and local agencies have received no missing person reports.

Coast Guard ends search in plane crash

AVON-BY-THE-SEA, N.J. - The Coast Guard has ended its search for survivors today from a plane crash near Shark River Island here and is assisting local and federal agencies.

The Coast Guard began their search at 6:51 p.m. when a four-seat plane crashed in about three feet of water in Shark River.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet, N.J., searched for survivors along with local and state agencies and a boat crew from Boat U.S.

The New Jersey State Police is heading recovery efforts and is conducting an investigation along with the Federal Aviation Administration. Coast Guard personnel remain on scene to assist the New Jersey State Police and to enforce a safety zone around the crash site.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Coast Guard searching for survivors after Shark River, N.J., plane crash

AVON-BY-THE-SEA, N.J. - The Coast Guard is searching for survivors today after a small, four-seat plane crashed near Shark River Island here.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet, N.J., are on scene with local agencies searching for survivors from the crash.

The plane crashed near the number three buoy near Shark River Island in about three feet of water.

Coast Guard transports 55-year-old man from charter fishing boat

MANASQUAN, N.J. (D5 Public Affairs) - The Coast Guard medically transported a 55-year-old man today after he lost consciousness while aboard a charter fishing boat about three miles off Manasquan Inlet here.

The Coast Guard received a call at about 12:30 p.m. from a member aboard the 80-foot Jamaica II, a charter fishing boat, who reported a 55-year-old man aboard the boat had lost consciousness and didn’t have a pulse.

Members aboard the boat began CPR while making way back to shore.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet launched, met up with the Jamaica II, medically transported the patient back to their station while continuing CPR and transferred the man to awaiting EMS who pronounced the man deceased.

Coast Guard rescues 3 near Manasquan Inlet

MANASQUAN, N.J. - The Coast Guard rescued three people from the water today after the 69-foot fishing boat they were aboard sank near Manasquan Inlet in Point Pleasant, N.J., Harbor.

The Coast Guard received a call at 12:15 a.m. via VHF marine radio from a crewman aboard the Susie II reporting they were taking on water and needed assistance.

A rescue boat crew from Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet arrived on scene and recovered all three people from the water.

The rescue boat crew transported the fishermen to Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet and transferred them to emergency medical personnel.

All three fishermen were wearing survival suits when their boat sank.

The owner of the Susie II is working with members of the Coast Guard on a salvage plan.
