Coast Guard suspends search for mayday source near Seldovia

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Coast Guard actively suspended its search this afternoon, for the source of the “mayday” call near Seldovia received at 10 p.m. Tuesday. No correlating reports of an overdue, flare sightings or search and rescue satellite alerts have been received at this time.

Coast Guard announces final ports, compliance dates for TWIC Program

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration announced Wednesday that April 14, 2009, is the Transportation Worker Identification Credential compliance date for owners and operators of facilities located within the U.S. Coast Guard Captain of the Port Zones of Houston-Galveston, Texas, Los Angeles-Long Beach, Calif., San Juan, Puerto Rico and Guam.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential Program compliance off to good start

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Coast Guard announced Wednesday that the first week of enforcement of compliance with the Transportation Worker Identification Credential Program in Coast Guard Captain of the Port Zones Northern New England, Boston, and Southeastern New England has resulted in only 23 denials of entry to port facilities out of the nearly 20,000 port workers, longshoremen and truckers required to comply with the program by the region’s enforcement deadline of Oct. 15, 2008.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential enrollment deadline draws near

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Coast Guard urges maritime workers who have not yet applied for a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) to apply as soon as possible before unescorted access to facilities in the Florida ports of Jacksonville, Fernandina, Fla., and Port Canaveral, Fla., is prohibited.
