Coast Guard flying 1,300 miles for medevac off Alaska’s Aleutian Chain

JUNEAU, Alaska - Coast Guard aircraft launched from Kodiak, Alaska, this morning to fly more than 1,300 miles to conduct a medical evacuation of a 58-year-old crewman reported to have suffered a broken arm and possible spinal injuries aboard a Panamanian-flagged bulk carrier approximately 50 miles east of Attu Island, Alaska, in the Bering Sea.

Coast Guard Flies Santa to Remote Villages

KODIAK, Alaska - Coast Guard personnel in Kodiak have 16 volunteers who will dress up as Santa and elves to help present wrapped gifts, hand-made clothing and fruit to students and children at native villages across Kodiak Island Monday through Friday.

KODIAK, Alaska - Coast Guard aircraft launched from Air Station Kodiak Tuesday to fly more than 1,000 miles to conduct a medical evacuation of a 51-year-old crewman reported to have suffered a stroke aboard a bulk carrier approximately 200 miles south of Adak Island, Alaska.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk rescues four survivors from the 92-foot fishing vessel Katmai 100 miles west of Adak in the Aleutian Islands.



Coast Guard suspends search for mayday source near Seldovia

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Coast Guard actively suspended its search this afternoon, for the source of the “mayday” call near Seldovia received at 10 p.m. Tuesday. No correlating reports of an overdue, flare sightings or search and rescue satellite alerts have been received at this time.

2 missing Alaskan fisherman recovered, search continues for 2
