Station Sabine Pass Medevacs Injured Tanker Crewmember

HOUSTON – The Coast Guard conducted a medevac of a 26-year-old Philipino man from a 761-foot tanker about 21 miles from Sabine, Texas.

A Coast Guard Sector Houston watch stander received the call for help from a crewmember onboard the Malda at 1:49 p.m., stating that a person onboard had injured his head. The watch stander notified Coast Guard Station Sabine Pass to launch a rescue boat.

The station’s 41-foot rescue boat was conducting operations in the area of the tanker and were dispatched to help. The rescue boat transferred the man onboard and headed back to Station Sabine Pass, where emergency medical technicians were waiting.
