Skipper of grounded vessel refuses drug and alcohol tests – KTVF Webcenter 11 – Fairbanks, Alaska

KTVF Fairbanks, Alaska reports that:

Coast Guard officials say the captain of a fishing vessel that spilled more than three-thousand gallons of diesel into Prince William Sound has refused to take drug and alcohol tests.

Officials say the three other crew members on the Nordic Viking did submit to the tests after the boat ran aground 55 miles southwest of Valdez.

Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander Matt Jones says the agency hasn’t come to a conclusion about whether substance abuse was a factor in the grounding this weekend.
