Search suspended for missing swimmer near Juno Beach

d7MIAMI — The Coast Guard suspended the search for a missing swimmer in the vicinity of Juno Beach, Florida, Monday at approximately 8:15 p.m.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet Florida received a call from Juno Beach Police Department at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, regarding Yusnjear Sonora, 27-year-old male, who was reported missing by a friend who stated he was struggling in the water. He was last seen swimming north of Juno Beach Pier before he went missing.

Several Coast Guard and partner agency rescue crews searched for the missing swimmer, including;

  • The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Robert Yered
  • MH-65 Dolphin helicopter
  • HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane
  • Rescue crews from Station Lake Worth Inlet
  • Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission boatcrews
  • Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office aircrews
  • Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office boatcrews
  • Officers from Juno Beach Police Department

Rescue crews searched more than 962 square miles.
