Search suspended for missing swimmer

SAN DIEGO – The Coast Guard has suspended its search Friday for a swimmer who was reported missing near Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Thursday evening.

The approximately 23-hour search involving air and surface assets was suspended at 7 p.m., pending any new developments.

The man was last seen at approximately 5:30 Friday evening. The search efforts included Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Oceanside Police Department, Oceanside Lifeguards and San Diego County Sheriff’s Department crews.
