Search Suspended for Man Missing in San Diego Bay

SAN DIEGO, CA – The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a man missing since Saturday night in San Diego Bay.

The Coast Guard received word yesterday afternoon of two men missing since Saturday night. The father of one of the men on board reported that his son and a friend went out around 8 p.m. yesterday to set lobster pots.

They vessel and were last seen around 9 p.m. Saturday, but their overturned 14-foot vessel was found by lifeguards Sunday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. washed up on shore in Coronado. About 40 minutes later, a body was found in the water by the Coast Guard and was turned over to the coroner.

The multi-agency effort included vessels and aircraft that searched the area out to the entrance to San Diego Bay, as well as units that searched on shore.
