New York based Coast Guard members meet with Queens youth

NEW YORK – Members of Coast Guard Sector New York met with young people of Queens Intermediate School 126 and the Boys and Girls Club for “Day of Heroes,” in Long Island City, N.Y., Thursday.

During the event, six Coast Guard members guided the youths through a section of the Coast Guard physical fitness test, a 1.5 mile run, push-ups and sit-ups to promote personal health and well being. “Day of Heroes” is an event that offers young people the opportunity to meet with members of the military and for local military members to play an active role in their community.
