Mobile-based Coast Guardsmen rescue man from burning vehicle

A semi-truck is engulfed in flames after an accident between the semi and a disabled vehicle caused it to flip. Four Coast Guardsmen, with Coast Guard Sector Mobile, witnessed the accident, called 911 and quickly responded by pulling the unconscious truck driver from the semi-truck cab before it was engulfed in flames, and rendered first aid until local emergency medical services arrived on-scene. MOBILE, Ala. — Four Mobile-based Coast Guardsmen rescued a man from a burning semi-truck near Tillman’s Corner exit ramp on Interstate-10 in Mobile, Thursday.

Ensign Richard Quintana, Ensign Andrew Nielsen, Chief Warrant Officer Paul Rotolo and Chief Warrant Officer Benjamin Wagner, all marine inspectors with Coast Guard Sector Mobile, witnessed an accident involving a disabled vehicle and a semi-truck, which rolled on its side, and called 911 reporting the accident. They quickly responded by pulling the unconscious truck driver from the semi-truck cab as it was on fire, and rendered first aid until local fire and paramedics arrived on-scene.

Local emergency medical services arrived on scene and took the truck drive to a local hospital for further medical treatment.
