Mississippi River remains closed to recreational traffic throughout the 4th of July weekend

ST. LOUIS (D8 Public Affairs) – The Upper Mississippi River remains closed to recreational vessels between mile markers 168.7 at Jefferson Barracks Bridge in Chesterfield, Missouri and 343.2 in Canton, Missouri, which includes the St. Louis Harbor. The river closure will remain in effect throughout the 4th of July weekend.

No recreational vessels are authorized to transit on the river due to safety precautions for high water. Operating a small craft on the river during these hazardous conditions may be extremely dangerous.

The Illinois River is closed from mile marker 0 to 24.

The Kaskaskia River is closed from mile marker 0 to 21.
