Missing Divers Keep Coast Guard Busy
Missing divers are keeping the Coast Guard busy today on the east coast as these reports can attest.
PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — Two missing divers were found about 25 miles off Port Canaveral after a search that was launched just before noon Wednesday, the Coast Guard said.
The missing divers were reported just a few hours into the start of the two-day lobster mini-season. Their conditions were not immediately known. Another recreational boater assisted in the recovery.
Chief Petty Officer Jason Brennan said a helicopter brought a rescue unit to the Good Samaritan’s vessel to assist the divers.
The rescue occurred in an area known as Pelican Flats.
Meanwhile, off Nantucket:
<BOSTON - The Coast Guard is searching for a missing scuba diver off the coast of Nantucket.
The man was diving at a site 40 miles south of Nantucket, near the Andrea Doria shipwreck site, the Coast Guard said.
The man was on a 250-foot dive and was supposed to surface at 11 a.m. When he didn’t, crewmembers notified the Coast Guard.
