Missing Divers Keep Coast Guard Busy

Missing divers are keeping the Coast Guard busy today on the east coast as these reports can attest.

PORT CANAVERAL, Fla. — Two missing divers were found about 25 miles off Port Canaveral after a search that was launched just before noon Wednesday, the Coast Guard said.

The missing divers were reported just a few hours into the start of the two-day lobster mini-season. Their conditions were not immediately known. Another recreational boater assisted in the recovery.

Chief Petty Officer Jason Brennan said a helicopter brought a rescue unit to the Good Samaritan’s vessel to assist the divers.

The rescue occurred in an area known as Pelican Flats.

Meanwhile, off Nantucket:

The man was diving at a site 40 miles south of Nantucket, near the Andrea Doria shipwreck site, the Coast Guard said.

The man was on a 250-foot dive and was supposed to surface at 11 a.m. When he didn’t, crewmembers notified the Coast Guard.
