Memorial ceremony scheduled for murdered Coast Guardsman

LOS ANGELES — Coast Guard Base Los Angeles-Long Beach is scheduled to host a memorial ceremony for Senior Chief Petty Officer Terrell Horne at Reservation Point, Dec. 8 at 1 p.m.

Horne, the Executive Petty Officer of the Coast Guard Cutter Halibut, died Sunday from injuries sustained while conducting maritime law enforcement operations off the California coast.

The uniform for all active duty attendees will be Service Dress Blue with combination cover, or equivalent uniform for members of other services.. The memorial ceremony is not open to the public.

In lieu of flowers, the Horne family has asked money to be donated for their children’s college funds. The CG Foundation has set up a web site to accept donations for Chief Horne’s family through the Fallen Heroes Scholarship. If you would like to donate, please see the information below.

    As a retired member of the USCG Auxiliary and a veteran of many LE Tours on board five different cutters as an Interpreter, please allow me to join in respectful prayers the Thousands of Coast Guard brothers and sisters who are in pain with the murder of Chief Terrell Horne III.
