Man Medevaced from Tugboat Near Kings Point, New York

NEW YORK-A 43-year-old man was medevaced from a tugboat one mile west of Kings Point, N.Y., at about 2:50 p.m. today.

The man was medevaced after complaining of stomach pains while on board the 99-foot tugboat, Ivory Coast, which was anchored under the Throg’s Neck Bridge.

A Coast Guard rescue crew from Station Kings Point responded and transferred the man back to the station, where local Emergency Medical Services Personnel were waiting.

“The man had a piece of paper with all of his pertinent information written down, such as his medical complaints, allergies and contact information,” said Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Raymond Figueroa, Station Kings Point officer of the day. “Even though he was responsive, having those specific details ready made the transfer process from the Coast Guard to the civilian EMS a lot smoother.”
