Man medevaced from tanker near La Push, Wash.

SEATTLE — The Coast Guard is responding to an injured man aboard the chemical tanker Maersk Bering approximately 30 miles west of La Push, Washington.

Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles, Wash., received a call from the crew of the Maersk Bering at 1:20 p.m. informing them the man was in need of medical care. Air Station Port Angeles contacted Coast Guard Air Station Astoria, Ore., to ask for assistance with the case and an HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew was dispatched to the scene.

The man will be hoisted to the helicopter and transfered to Harbor View Medical Center here.

The missions of Air Station Port Angeles and Air Station Astoria include search and rescue, law enforcement, aids to navigation and marine environmental protection.
