Intracoastal waterway restricted due to sunken barge near Galveston

No Admittance - Safety  ZoneHOUSTON — The Coast Guard issued a safety zone and temporarily restricted traffic on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway after a barge sank east of the Galveston Causeway railroad bridge Tuesday.

The restriction allows one-way and single-wide barges only, from mile marker 356 to mile marker 357.

The owner has contracted T & T salvage to remove the barge, which was being towed to be scrapped when it sank.
