Fort Myers Coast Guardsman retires after 30 years of service

FORT MYERS, Fla. – A retirement ceremony will be held for Chief Warrant Officer Peter Louzao at Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach, May 22, at 2 p.m., after 30 years of service to his country.

Louzao enlisted in the Coast Guard after graduating from Ft. Myers High School in 1979. Among his many duty stations, Louzao served aboard the 87-foot Coast Guard Cutter Point Whitehorn, homeported in the Virgin Islands, as the officer-in-charge of Station Charleston, S.C., and commanding officer of Coast Guard stations Belle Isle, Mich., Harbor Beach, Mich., and Port Huron, Mich.

From 2003-2007 Louzao served as commanding officer of Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach, and from 2007-present as Sector St. Petersburg’s Auxiliary Liaison and operational-readiness coordinator.

Louzao is married to the former Susan Hunt of Livonia, Mich. They are the proud parents of three children: Zachary, Jeremy and Shawn.
