Florida Reservists and Guard Members Missing out on $5 Million Opportunity

Peter A Stinson at An Unofficial Coast Guard Blog has posted an important story for any Florida National Guard or Military Reservists. This is a program that every state should implement.

Seems the Sunshine State has set aside money — for reservists and national guard personnel who are on active duty — to help in financially difficult times. And, it seems that in 2 years, only about $600K has been used.

A $5 million state fund created in 2005 to help financially pinched families of reservists called to active duty remains flush with cash, with less than $600,000 in payouts.
