First Coast Guard maritime enforcement rating force master chief retires

5th Coast Guard District NewsPORTSMOUTH, Va. – Master Chief Petty Officer Gordon Muise retired as the first rating force master chief for the maritime enforcement rating during a retirement ceremony commemorating 32 years of service Thursday.

Muise assumed the duties as the first rating force master chief for the maritime enforcement specialist rating in the Coast Guard December 2008.

As the rating force master chief Muise was responsible for ensuring the rate is comprised with the necessary structure, staffing and training requirements.

The maritime enforcement rating is one of the newest in the Coast Guard and is comprised of professionals well grounded in knowledge and skills pertaining to law enforcement and security duties.

Muise is a resident in Suffolk, Va.
