Elizabeth City aircrews deploy for Hurricane Ike

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – Two Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City, N.C., are scheduled to depart in preparation for Hurricane Ike Friday.

The two flight crews consist of 10 Coast Guard members and include two pilots, two co-pilots, two flight mechanics and four rescue swimmers who are deploying to the Coast Guard Aviation Center in Mobile, Ala., in preparation of Ike.

The air crews will be deployed to perform search and rescue and humanitarian aid missions after Ike makes landfall.
