Cocaine sub sunk off Colombia

BOGOTA – The Columbian Navy announced today that cocaine smugglers scuttled a submarine of the countryies Pacific Coast this week.

This is the second time in less than a month that the Navy, has stopped a submarine.  Both times, the U.S. Coast Guard assisted in the seizure, and both times, the smugglers sank their ship before they could be boarded.

Since 2005, 18 of the submarines, which have a capacity to hold 12 tons of cocaine, have been stopped by the Colombian Navy.  Last year the Colombians located and seized a shipyard that was used to manufacturer the ships.
