Coast Guardsmen recognized for service in Kodiak, Alaska

Kodiak, AK – Vice Adm. Paul Zukunft, commander Coast Guard Pacific Area and Rear Adm. Thomas Ostebo, commander Coast Guard 17th District visited Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak today to take part in an awards ceremony recognizing Air Station personnel.

During the ceremony three Coast Guardsman were awarded the Coast Guard Air Medal for their actions in rescuing two people from the fishing vessel Heritage south of Kodiak Jan. 25, 2012, in extreme weather. In addition, the Geico Military Service Award was presented to another station crewmember.
