MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. – The Coast Guard warns mariners of shoaling near the center span of the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge at Oregon Inlet, N.C., Friday.

The water depth is less than three feet at mean-low water according to a survey conducted by the Army Corp of Engineers Wednesday.

Shoaling has accelerated during the last two weeks with water depths dropping in the channel from seven feet to less than three feet.

Mariners are urged to exercise extreme caution and limit their transits to high water tidal periods.
