Coast Guard transports 6 people from disabled vessel

NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 28-year-old woman and transported five people from a disabled vessel near Sand Island, Mississippi, Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile, Alabama, received a notification at approximately 6 p.m. of the disabled vessel with a woman aboard going in and out of consciousness.

Coast Guard watchstanders directed the launch of a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Pascagoula, Mississippi, with local emergency medical services aboard to assist the people.

The boat crew arrived on scene at approximately 6:30 p.m. and transported the six people to Station Pascagoula.

An ambulance took the woman to medical care.

The owner of the vessel remained aboard the vessel and was towed by a friend to Bayou Casotte, Mississippi.
