COAST GUARD TRANSFERRING MAN SUFFERING FROM SEVERE BURNS

MIAMI – A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater, Fla., deployed in support of Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos is medically evacuating a 47-year-old Honduran crewman from the motor vessel Island Express to Jackson Memorial Hospital Saturday.

Jacob Enamorado suffered serious burns to nearly 80 percent of his body from a chemical fire aboard the 155-foot motor vessel Island Express, 23 miles northwest of Andros, Bahamas.

Search and rescue coordinators at the District Seven Command Center in Miami were contacted by the owner of Island Express about 9:45 a.m, stating Enamorado suffered the burns this morning while trying to burn trash. The Island Express will continue en route Port Everglades, Fla.

The Coast Guard helicopter with the injured man is scheduled to arrive at Jackson Memorial Hospital around noon.
