Coast Guard to Medevac Man from Cruise Ship

New York – A Coast Guard helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Atlantic City is enroute to medevac a man with heart-attack like symptoms from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship about 40 miles south east of New York City, today at 9:30 p.m.

The 76 year-old male passenger aboard the Explorer of the Seas began displaying symptoms at about 8:15 p.m. The passenger also has a history of heart disease.

Coast Guard Sector New York was notified immediately. After consulting with the duty flight surgeon for the First Coast Guard District a medevac was recommended for the passenger.

An HH65 Dolphin Helicopter was dispatched immediately and has an estimated time of arrival of 30 minutes.
