Coast Guard to hold oil spill training exercse

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound and 14 federal, state and local agencies will be participating in an oil spill response exercise in New Haven, Conn., June 3-5.

Local pollution response vessels will be deploying absorbent booms around a simulated sinking vessel.

The Coast Guard will be offering support by having several station assets on scene.

The public should see increased activity in the harbor.

“Getting together with our governmental and industry partners to plan and exercise our spill response capabilities provides us the best opportunity to conduct the most effective response possible,” said Capt. Dan Ronan, Captain of the Port and Commander of Sector Long Island Sound.
