Coast Guard to conduct multiagency maritime search and rescue exercise

MOBILE, Ala. — The Coast Guard and search and rescue units from Mobile County, Baldwin County and the state of Alabama are scheduled to conduct a multi-agency maritime search and rescue exercise Saturday, March 28, 2009, from 8 a.m., until noon, in Mobile Bay.

The exercise will consist of sea and air resources from all agencies. There will also be simulated vessels in distress in the bay.

This exercise is designed to raise awareness of search and rescue and prepare the search and rescue community for the upcoming boating season.

The Coast Guard is committed to improving the safety of boaters and highlighting the importance of lifesaving equipment.
