LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Coast Guard is scheduled to assist local, state, and federal agencies with first responder boat drills on the Ohio River near Louisville, Kentucky, Tuesday through Thursday.

The drills will include a wide range of patrol boat tactics as well as emergency response procedures and are intended to enhance safety and security for law enforcement and fire and rescue personnel who may be called upon to respond to a maritime security incident.

The river will remain open to vessel traffic during these drills, and the public should not be concerned about the increased presence of law enforcement and other emergency vessels.

The drills are scheduled to be conducted Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. to noon from the vicinity of Six Mile Island to mile marker 600 on the Ohio River and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to noon between Six Mile Island and Twelve Mile Island.
