Coast Guard to Assist U.S. Virgin Islands Mariners with Fingerprinting, License Applications

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – A Coast Guard Regional Exam Center (REC) representative will visit Saint Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands Aug. 8-9 to assist mariners with fingerprinting and application packages for merchant mariner’s documents, licenses and certificates of registry.Mariners who request fingerprinting services must provide a complete application and two forms of valid identification and at least one of them must have a photograph. Among the most common types of identification are, U.S. or U.S. Territory issued drivers license, passport or original birth certificate. Expired documents will not be accepted by the REC representative as a valid means of identification.

The REC representative will meet with mariners by appointment only, Aug. 8 and Aug. 9 from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mariners in need of fingerprinting and application assistance must contact the Coast Guard Sector San Juan Licensing Monitoring Unit, at (787) 729-2368 to schedule an appointment.
