Coast Guard takes part in 94th annual New York City Veterans Day Parade

NEW YORK – The Coast Guard participated in the 94th annual New York City Veterans Day Parade, Monday.

The 94th annual New York City Veterans Day Parade, organized by the United War Veterans Council (UWVC) in New York, honored all of the nation’s heroes in the armed services, with a special salute to women in uniform. The parade stepped off around 11:15 a.m. and moved north along Fifth Avenue from 26th Street. to 52nd Street in Manhattan.

The Coast Guard was represented by active duty and reserve servicemembers, spouses and Coast Guard Auxiliary from Sector New York, Station New York and Maritime Safety and Security Team New York (MSST). The Coast Guard Academy Cadet Band and Corps of Cadets were also in attendance.

This year’s event launched what will be known as “America’s Parade,” a national salute to the nation’s veterans and was hosted by Michael R. Bloomberg, Mayor, New York City. America’s Parade carries on the tradition of the New York City Veterans Day Parade and is the largest event in the nation, honoring those who defended America’s freedom.
