Coast Guard suspends search for missing 79-year-old man

1st Coast Guard District NewsNEW YORK – The Coast Guard has suspended its search for a missing 79-year-old man who was aboard a boat that capsized in the Hudson River near Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Friday, June 10, 2011.

At 3:45 p.m., today, all search efforts conducted by Coast Guard units were suspended.

Coast Guard units including the crews of a rescue helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, N.J., Coast Guard Cutter Ridley, a patrol boat homeported in Montauk, N.Y., and a Coast Guard Auxiliary boat crew searched for more than 12 hours, covering more than 62 miles of the Hudson River. The Coast Guard was assisting local agencies in the search effort.
